What is it

The supply and laying of a BS EN 1340 HB2 half-battered precast-concrete kerb (125×255×914 mm), set out to line and level on a ~100 mm concrete bed and backed with a concrete haunch to about two-thirds of the kerb height, priced per linear metre of finished straight kerb run. This is the standard external-works kerbing line on UK bills of quantities. The composite carries two operations:

Bed & set out — a ~100 mm GEN1 (C8/10) concrete bed laid to line and level.
Lay & haunch — the HB2 kerb units laid and close-jointed on the bed, backed with a concrete haunch to ~2/3 height and pointed.

Alignment & radius

This rate is a straight run. Gentle and tight radii, quadrants and drop-kerb fittings lay slower (about 4.5–5.5 m/hr on curves versus a straight run), lifting the rate per metre.

Access & bedding / haunch spec

Good access on a residential / light-commercial GEN1 bed is the default. Poor access, long barrow runs, live traffic, or an adoptable-highway C20P bed and deeper haunch add concrete and slow the gang.

Supply & quantity

Merchant prices for the bought-in materials move with supplier, account and load size, and the published band already spans that range. Rates are UK non-London; London & the South East typically run dearer — adjust the build-up.
