The supply and laying of SHW Class 6N selected granular fill (recycled well-graded crushed hardcore, ~0/80 mm), spread and compacted as selected backfill to concrete structures and behind retaining walls, priced per m³ of compacted material in place. Class 6N is a selected fill placed to a tighter compaction than loose general fill. Material supply sets the delivered stone price, which is the bulk of the rate, and comes in three bands:
A note on the number, for estimators: this rate is identical to our Class 1A general fill by construction, not by a manufactured uplift. In the priced recycled market Class 6N and Class 1A are the SAME well-graded crushed-hardcore stock (~2.0 t/m³) — merchants publish “6N” pages quote-only, with no separate recycled 6N uplift — so 6N is priced off the same representative row and lands on the same headline. This is a MAIN-CONTRACTOR budget rate: the delivered fill is around 82% of it and, under the settled material route, carries the main-contractor O&P only (the laying gang carries the full ladder). A PRIMARY / virgin 6N, if ever priced separately, would be a distinct rate. The rate range by material supply:
