Render to blockwork
per m² · supply & lay
£59 – £116 / m²
What is it

The supply and application of a through-coloured monocouche one-coat render (Weber Pral M / K Rend K Mono class), mixed, applied 15–20 mm and scraped to a textured finish over a blockwork or masonry background, priced per m² of rendered wall. This is the standard external render finish — the render coat, not the wall behind it, which is a separate rate. For an all-in rendered blockwork wall, add this to the plain blockwork rate; the internal equivalent is plasterboard on dot-and-dab. The finish carries:

  1. Preparation & beads — a stabilising primer / key coat, bellcast, stop and angle beads at base, corners and openings, and alkali-resistant mesh at junctions.
  2. Monocouche coat — a one-coat through-coloured render applied 15–20 mm, ruled flat and scraped to an even textured finish that needs no separate paint.

3 key cost drivers
Wall complexity
Openings, reveals, stop-ends and detailing mean more bead and cutting-in work per m², slowing the gang; large open elevations render fastest. Labour is the biggest driver of this rate.
Substrate condition
A true, plumb blockwork or masonry background takes an even 15–20 mm coat; an out-of-plumb or rough wall needs dubbing-out, using more render and slowing the gang.
Supply & quantity
Merchant prices for the bought-in materials move with supplier, account and load size, and the published band already spans that range. Rates are UK non-London; London & the South East typically run dearer — adjust the build-up.
