What is it
The supply and laying of a single skin of 100 mm blockwork, priced per m² of wall face, across the five block types that cover most UK projects. The five types are:
Aircrete 3.6N — A lightweight block for internal walls and partitions, in traditional or thin-joint mortar.
Aircrete 7.3N — A higher-strength block for loadbearing walls, light and one-handed, in traditional or thin-joint mortar.
Dense 7.3N — A heavy dense-aggregate block for loadbearing and below-ground work, in a standard or fair-faced finish.
Lightweight 7.3N — A lightweight-aggregate block balancing strength and weight, in a standard or fair-faced finish.
Medium-density 7.3N — A medium-density block for everyday loadbearing walls, in a standard or fair-faced finish.

3 key cost drivers
Block type & price
The block is the single biggest line (roughly 30–50% of the rate). A dense commodity block is cheapest; a high-strength aircrete or a fair-faced block costs more.
Wall complexity
Openings, returns, piers and reveals slow the gang and add cutting waste.
Location
London and the South East typically add around 20% to labour.
